Board Member

Yolanda Brown-Spidell is a mom, educator, sociologist and parent advocate. She has been an educator for over 25 years and a DEI facilitator for the past 4 years. She completed her undergraduate studies at Eastern Michigan University in psychology and holds a Master’s degree from National University in Human Behavioral Psychology. She is a professor of sociology and psychology, a certificated state of Michigan K-12 administrator, a Certified Trauma and Resilience Trainer (CTRT), and a Michigan ACE Community Champion Presenter (MACC). Her passion is to be impactful in the lives of everyone she encounters! Her areas of specialization include: DEI, trauma and resilience, developing cultures of belonging in organizations and supporting people in creating and maintaining authentic relationships. 

As a former social assistance recipient, her five children gained access to daycare through state funding, Yolanda will bring a unique voice to the board by offering both her parental experience and professional expertise. It is the breadth of these lived experiences that makes her a great potential asset to The Alliance for the Advancement of Infant Mental Health Board of Directors.
